Greece’s most prolific and acclaimed artists. The Museum, which
opened to the public in June 2004, exhibits approximately 120 of
Vassiliou’s works, including temporary exhibits such as the
“Voyage to China” series of watercolors which is currently shown
in a specially allocated space. The Atelier Spyros Vassiliou
offers a unique event setting amid the works of one of the most
reputed exponents of contemporary Greek art.
Conveniently located in downtown Athens at 5a, Webster St, a few
steps below the Dionysiou Aeropagitou promenade, just under the
Acropolis and across from the Herod Atticus Theatre (Metro:
Acropolis), the Atelier Spyros Vassiliou occupies two floors of a
1950’s modernistic Athenian building.
The Museum is divided into two main areas, with 84 m2 of useable
space on the main floor, and 66 m2 on the mezzanine, connected by
a wooden staircase. There is also a 20 m2 balcony offering a view
of the Herod Atticus Theatre and the Acropolis. Currently the
total useable space is 170 m2, of which 150 m2 are indoors.
Additionally, there is a 10 m2 kitchen accessible through a swing
door, and a 4 m2 washroom & toilet area.
Furthermore, the Atelier Spyros Vassiliou is equipped with state
of the art audio-visual systems and can easily be transformed into
